It sounds crazy to even ask this question. It sounds like conspiracy theory nonsense. Could it actually be possible? Take a look at the evidence.
Firstly, how would a Russian operative do anything differently as President than what Trump himself has already done?
- Purge the leaders of our military and of our intelligence services.
- Appoint under-qualifed individuals to replace them.
- Appoint under-qualified individuals as civilian heads of the Defense Department and Intelligence Agencies.
- Mass firings at the Pentagon and in the Intelligence community.
- Mass firings to create chaos in and undermine the rest of the Federal Government.
- Weaken NATO and our alliances in Western Europe.
- Promote Russian propaganda concerning the Ukraine government and the war in Ukraine.
- Reduce American support of Ukraine in the war.
- Undermine economic ties with U.S. allies
These would certainly be the top priorities for any Russian agent who was able to become President of the United States and are the exact actions Trump has undertaken.
However, it might just be that Trump believes an alliance with the Russians is in the best long-term interests of the United States. Since the organization and policies of the administrative state are based on the idea that Russia is an adversary, perhaps the only way to accomplish his vision is to eliminate the leadership and staffing of said administrative state. However, this would HAVE to assume that Trump is actually concerned with the interests of the United States and not his own self-interest. Is there any evidence, then, that in acting in a manner that parallels the interests of the Russian state that Trump is acting in his OWN interests, not in America’s. It so happens that there is a boatload of it. No need to read any of these links in their entirety (you can if you want), it is sufficient to just read the headlines:

As outlanding and absurd as it may seem, it is time that we consider this as a real possibility. In fact, one reason it would be so effective is that it is so unbelievable. This is why, even though it has been happening right in front of us, it’s never really been thought of as a true, serious risk. However, we need to at least begin believing it may be possible. We need to start asking that our political representatives consider it. It sounds crazy. People might think we’re crazy. But the odds of it being true have been increasing and we continue to ignore them at our own (and our country’s) peril.
